Miss SA advises aspirants

Alex’s beautiful aspirants of the 2019 Miss SA receive advice from one who knows it all. They have the current queen Tamaryn Green to thank for the tips she dished out to all the hopefuls itching to fill her shoes on 9 August. Befittingly, the pageant will be on Women’s Day, when the over 500 entrants would have been whittled down to 16 finalists and in the end, one queen and two runners-up scoping an avalanche of accolades. “Close to three million rands in prize money and sponsorships are up for grabs and the winner will walk away with R1 million in cash, a car, and other fabulous prizes. The first princess will take home R250 000 in cash, and all 16 finalists will receive R25 000,” according to a statement by the organisers. In the statement, Green tells aspirants, “You must really want it and have the drive, passion, stamina and a serving heart, be relatable, generous and passionate about empowering other women and girls. Never underestimate the power of one. You need to shine as the best form of yourself. Always be authentic and talk and act from the heart. Don’t pretend to be something you are not.” She added, “It is hard to comprehend just how big the Miss South Africa platform is and the opportunities it offers the title holder. It is bigger than I ever could have imagined. I found myself in a position where my voice was heard. However, this comes with immense responsibility.” She advised them to try to help as many people as they can and to seize and run with the opportunity. “It really does transform your life.” The entries closed on 10 June.
