T-Cross, to cross SA borders soon.

In the third quarter of 2019, the T-Cross will be added to Volkwagen’s SUV range alongside the Tiguan and Touareg.

Extended far into the flanks, you will find the headlights which are also available in a LED variety, integrated into the wide grille, while the rear lights come with LED as standard. The front bumper features recessed fog-lights and an aggressive front spoiler. In the corners, you will find 16-inch wheels which come as standard with 17-inch and 18-inch alloy wheels as optional.

The Wolfsburg based automaker also included modular transverse matrix or MQB into its design which sees to it that the front axle can be positioned closer to the front of the vehicle resulting in the wheelbase measuring 2 551 mm. The height is measured at 1 584 mm while the overall length of the vehicle comes to 4.2 meters.

On the interior, you will find a painted centre console with up to four USB ports and wireless charging. Optional is a Beats sound system able to produce 300-watt through its eight-channel amplifier and subwoofer.  Also available as an alternative to the platinum grey interior trim is the design package which includes 3D décor dash pads, two-tone seat surfaces, a steering wheel clasp and central console in a matching tone, and colour-coordinated wing mirrors and wheels.

In the back of the T-Cross, the rear sliding seat can be adjusted by 14 cm to increase leg-room or expand the luggage space from 377-litres to 455-litres. Once the rear seats are folded down, it expands the luggage space to 1 281 litres in volume.

The T-Cross will find its motivation from a 1-litre TSI turbocharged petrol engine coupled exclusively to a 7-speed DSG transmission delivering 85 kW and will develop 200 Nm of torque. In the fourth quarter of 2019, South Africa will receive a more powerful derivative fitted with a three-cylinder, 1.5-litre TSI powertrain able to produce 110 kW while in 2020 the range will see the addition of a 1-litre TSI variant which will deliver 70 kW.

The T-Cross will be available in Trendline, Comfortline and Highline trim options with pricing only to be confirmed closer to the local launch of the model this year.
