Mzansi Kwaito and House Music Awards move to keep up with international standards

JOHANNESBURG – A total of 19 categories have also been confirmed for the 4th annual Mzansi Kwaito and House Music Awards.

The Mzansi Kwaito and House Music Awards is known for unearthing and grooming upcoming musical talent that will contribute to the success and sustainability of the Kwaito and House genres in South Africa.

This according to founder and CEO of the awards, Perfecta Khumalo who added that they have plans to make this a reality.

The awards have made strategic changes to this year’s categories to keep up with internationally accepted standards and music trends.

The annual awards ceremony will take place on 30 November at Carnival City for the second time in a row as opposed to the original hosting in Soweto since their inception.

Khumalo encouraged all artists not to miss this opportunity. “I encourage all to enter but please read the rules and regulation before you fill out an entry form.

“I am excited as this year, we have a second runner-up prize but only for the upcoming kwaito and house artists. We have so many surprises hence we say, #ZizowaMore. Meanwhile, the Lifetime Achievement Award which was won by Victor ‘Doc Shebeleza’ Bogopane in 2018, will be awarded to one of our music legends on the night of the awards.”

Khumalo said the coveted award is presented to an individual who has contributed immensely to the development and growth of South Africa music not only locally, but also to the international market.

Nineteen categories have being confirmed for the show. Organisers have mentioned that they will be embarking on a nationwide tour in search of young talent who could be the future stars to take part in the show.

Previous award winners include Mshoza, Mandoza, Busisiwa, Spikiri and Drencko to name a few.

The nomination submission date opened on 1 May and will remain open up until 31 July. Entry forms can be found on the Mzansi Kwaito and House Music Awards website www.mkhma.co.za
