Alex to get its concert of the Arts Alive festival

ALEXANDRA – The Number 3 Square Sports Grounds in Alex will now host the Arts Alive concert on 21 October.

Arts Alive has taken the initiative to ensure that the Alexandra community gets their concert, following the postponement of a concert that was scheduled for Alex Mall on 23 September.

“The Arts Alive team is, however, pleased to announce that the sports facility at the Number 3 Square Sports Grounds will now host the concert on 21 October.

“Alexandra can rest assured that they will not be overlooked for the Arts Alive Festival 2017,” said Roshnie Moonsammy, Arts Alive project coordinator.

Initially scheduled to take place at the new Alex Mall in the Tsutsumani Village of Alexandra on 23 September, the show had to be postponed after the mall was deemed unsuitable for the nature of the event by the City of Johannesburg’s Joint Operations Committee.

“It is important that Arts Alive reaches out to as many communities as possible in the City of Johannesburg,” Moonsammy said.

It assured the community that they will get their long-awaited concert that will feature several local artists from Alex as well as some big-name artists like Shekhinah, Afrikan Roots as well as Sliq Angel and MXO of Roots 2000.

“We’re ecstatic that Alex will get to celebrate this momentous year together with us,” she added.
