• Johnny Clegg: The Final Journey

6 – 9 July

Clegg was diagnosed with cancer in 2015 and underwent chemotherapy treatment. Throughout the treatment he continued to tour locally and internationally, undertaking a nine-week tour of America and Canada in 2016. Clegg is currently completing a new album and his autobiography. As he is in remission, Clegg has decided to use this opportunity to perform a final set of concerts in South Africa and overseas to thank his fans for their support. Don’t miss one of his final performances at Montecasino.

• The Path to the Podium

21 – 23 July; 28 – 30 July

The need for education of choir conductors in South Africa was identified by a group of American choir conductors while on a tour to this country a few years ago. The Path to the Podium is the result of their sincere desire to do whatever they could to address this need. This weekend series of workshops is a music education course for choral conductors.

• Puss in Boots

A swashbuckling spectacular for the entire family, this rendition of Puss in Boots is a variation of the original tale, which is set to be showcased at Johannesburg’s Lyric Theatre. Set on a mystical, magical Caribbean island, Puss in Boots is a laugh-a-minute show and features great audience participation, breathtaking sets, gorgeous costumes and toe-tapping tunes sure to enthral both young and old.

• Big City, Big Dreams

28 July – 6 August

Joburg Ballet will collaborate with two other leading South African dance companies on a major new production titled Big City, Big Dreams. Moving Into Dance Mophatong and Vuyani Dance Theatre are two notable dance companies based in Johannesburg which will team up with Joburg Ballet to open Big City, Big Dreams on 28 July for its world premiere at Joburg Theatre.

Cinderella Kids
