Hlonela Mtoba, born in East London, always had a passion for music and is slowly seeing himself becoming a successful South African musician.
Hlonela is now known in the music world as Lex Hoza and aims to take the world by storm. “I just want to be a successful musician in South Africa first and then share my music across the world, making music that touches people’s hearts,” said Hoza.

At the tender age of 15, Hoza began composing his own music and at the age of 16 his move to Joburg proved to be a step in the right direction. Hoza went on to study sound engineering at the Academy of Sound Engineering to add to his impressive portfolio.
He has collaborated with popular musicians such as Priddy Ugly and Uhuru, and worked with Lunatik Beatz whose biggest work is Caracara by K.O.
Not only is Hoza on the path to becoming a successful musician, but he is also a doting father to a baby girl, Luyana. “It’s not about me, it is about building a healthy and sustainable future for my daughter so that she does not have to go through the struggles that I did. I am the best that I can be and nobody can do Lex the way I can do Lex.”
