Boy fractures arm, DJ Arch Junior fails to spin

JOBURG - A boy from Eastern Cape's Charles Morgan School fractured his arm while toddler DJ sensation, DJ Arch Junior failed to spin at McDonald's U14 Schools League Festival of the Capes.

A luggage bungle at OR Tambo International Airport denied fans at the McDonald’s U14 Schools League festival in the Western Cape from seeing their toddler idol spin the decks.

The luggage of Alexandra’s world-acclaimed three-year-old DJ sensation, Oratilwe Madumo, or DJ Arch Junior as the Alex resident is popularly known, failed to arrive with him at the Cape Town International Airport for the weekend festival on 10 September.

The Festival of the Capes which featured schools from the Eastern Cape, Northern Cape and the Western Cape as the host province, were part of the last provincial games of the McDonald’s U14 School League. The national finals are scheduled for 28 September to 1 October at the Lucas ‘Masterpieces’ Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville.

On enquiring about his luggage when it failed to show up on the airport luggage conveyer, the DJ sensation who has taken the McDonald’s school soccer festivals by storm, was told the luggage had been left behind at OR Tambo and would be coming on the next flight.

At about 2pm on the same day, the DJ was called to Cape Town Airport to fetch his luggage, which he did – but could not find a suitable time slot to perform at the festival as it was reaching its climax. Also, the weather had turned nasty with gusty winds and the DJ had to pack up his equipment, much to the disappointment of fans.

But this was not the only episode that put a dampener on the games. A young boy from Charles Morgan Public Primary School in King William’s Town in the Eastern Cape fell awkwardly on the field of play and fractured his arm. He was attended to by medics on the side of the pitch who helped secure the fracture before an ambulance was called to whisk the boy to a hospital.

South African Schools Football Association (Sasfa) president Mandla ‘Shoes’ Mazibuko sent his well wishes to the boy and his family, the school and his coaches. The same message was also issued by Sasfa Western Cape president Amos Mitchell.
