Rev up for charity

JOBURG – Ride for a purpose with the South Africa Bike Festival.

South Africa Bike Festival, powered by Discovery Channel, has joined forces with Ride for a Reason – Claws and Paws Charity, ThinkBike and WorldWear Shopping Centre in Fairlands to bring bikers one extensive Sunday Charity Motorcycle Ride on 29 May.

Hundreds of bikers will finally have the opportunity to ride their own motorcycles around the newly-refurbished Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit.

The ride will comprise two laps around the circuit and will be followed by an action-packed festival complete with live music, circuit test rides, stunts, jumps and much more.

Think Bike and Metro police will marshal the ride with full road closures.

Riders will follow a truck called The Mustang Sally which will leave WorldWear Shopping Centre at 8.30am and complete a short ride around Johannesburg.

Bikers are encouraged to arrive at the shopping centre at 7am.

The public will be able to view the charity ride from various points along the way including Malibongwe Drive, William Nicol Drive and Bowling Avenue bridges which overlook the highway.

The cost to participate is a R20 top-up on participants’ South Africa Bike Festival ticket, with all proceeds going towards Claw (Community Lead Animal Welfare) through the Ride for a Reason – Claws and Paws Charity organisation.

The Sunday Charity Motorcycle Ride will be filmed by the crew from local TV series Look What You’re Missing, and will be led by trick riders Julien Welsch and the Le Riche Brothers, and international master builder, Mario Kyprianides.
