The Wolf of the High Street

JOBURG – “You can absolutely look good on a small budget,” says Dominique Wolf, AKA the Style Coach and she can show you how.

“I don’t think it’s about dressing to impress – I think dressing well needs to start with you,” explained Wolf.

She admits that her love of style started when she was very young. “For me, every Sunday, going to church was all about looking at everyone’s outfits and being able to put together an outfit every week. It’s always been a thing for me, putting colours together and creating a look.”

As the Style Coach, Wolf works with individuals and corporations and conducts seminars and workshops in order to help businesses and people develop an internal identity for a striking professional image. But how did she get started?

“It literally happened one Saturday afternoon, I started tidying up my wardrobe, taking things out, putting things back, creating storage space and getting a bit creative. And I thought, ‘there must be an opportunity here’,” she revealed. So she started cleaning out other people’s wardrobes and showing them how to keep their wardrobes organised, which in turn led to personal shopping and styling.

However, she doesn’t consider herself a ‘fashionista’, as far-fetched fashion doesn’t appeal to her. She’s all about helping people look good. “Putting an outfit together, working with different body shapes, helping people feel confident about themselves – that’s really where my whole head is at.”

Don’t think for one minute that you can call her up any time of day and demand she puts together a fabulous date night outfit. That’s not how this works. A lot of thought, organisation and effort go into what she does. “I teach people how to look good. I teach people about style. I teach people how to create capsule wardrobes (which is the basic pieces of clothing everyone should have) and I teach businesses how to make sure that their staff are correctly and professionally dressed.”

This includes personal style assessments to find out what your favourite colours and styles are and where you shop for clothes. Wolf then creates and prints guides for each person, which show them a number of outfit ideas, which colours suit them, which clothes fit their body shape and where they can find affordable clothing.

“The thing is, you can’t be too prescriptive, one thing doesn’t suit everybody,” she stated, meaning that every guide is very personalised.

“It’s all worked into that, so it’s not intimidating. It’s usable stuff and that’s important for me as well because I think fashion can be very intimidating.”
