Editor's note

A new beginning

JOBURG - It's a new year, a new start and a new adventure. Welcome to 2016 Joburg residents. I hope this year brings something special for all of you.

To the matrics of 2015 – a big congratulations! Passing your final exams and leaving your schooling years behind is no small step. You should all be proud of yourselves.

To the class of 2016, good luck for the year ahead. Although the last year of school brings exciting things, it is also a year that requires dedication and hard work. I hope you are all up for the challenge.

To those pupils who did not obtain the results they hoped for, this is not the end of the road. Visit our website www.sandtonchronicle.co.za to obtain the details of when you can write your exams next and what you need to do to qualify.

If you are not planning on rewriting, there are still so many options. Technicons are a great way to gain a qualification in order to enter the work environment, even if it is not the job you dreamed of it is a great start. Gaining experience and getting a foot in the door can only benefit you.

For the rest of our readers, I hope you enjoy the year ahead – it does promise to be an interesting one. With citizens still trying to make sense of President Jacob Zuma’s shock announcement and change of finance ministers late last year, the municipal elections in May should be quite exciting. We also have the ongoing e-toll battle which is set to continue this year.

All in all – I believe that this year is going to be a good year, not a perfect year, but a good one. If I have learnt anything over the last few years, it is that Joburg residents are strong and when united – anything is possible.
