Shrek and Donkey take the stage

BRAAMFONTEIN – For the first time ever, everyone’s favourite green ogre and his annoyingly talkative, but totally lovable ass of a friend will take over the stage at the Peoples Theatre in Johannesburg.

Shrek: The Musical Jr will be painting Jozi green this winter in a funky modern fairytale stage production. Inspired by the 2001 Oscar-winning animated movie by DreamWorks, the stage show has been adapted and will be directed by the Peoples Theatre’s ‘dream team’, Jill Girard and Keith Smith.

Join Shrek and wise-cracking Donkey as they go on a mission to rid the ogre’s swamp of fairytale misfits and rescue a fair princess from a fiery-dragon guarded tower. The stage will be lit up with the talent of a number of South African stage greats such as Andile Magxaki in the role of Shrek and Jana Louw as Princess Fiona, as well as Palesa Makhalima, Thiart Li, Yamikani Mahaka-Phiri, Christopher Vale and Jessica Willmor.

Expect heaps of laughter, action, unexpected twists and sensational musical favourites in this incredible show that’s fun for the whole family.

Shrek: The Musical Jr opened at the Peoples Theatre on 1 June and runs until 2 August. Tickets are from R110.
