WATCH: Chad Saaiman takes on SA music

JOBURG - Pop, R&B, urban singer, songwriter and heartthrob, Chad Saaiman, is back on the music scene – fully recovered and ready to take on the industry once more.

A romantic at heart, Chad Saaiman began his journey when he and a few friends decided to sing for Valentine’s Day and received a response that catapulted him onto the path of an entertainer.

As of this year, he is 13 years a singer and seven years songwriter. Working on his music for a long time, he hit a bump in the road when he was shot during a hijacking in 2011.

Having moved from Capetown to Joburg, he was forced to put his career on hold and move back to Cape Town to recover.

Despite having a story straight from a movie, he is still a family man and explains that he always wants to be able to take his five-year-old daughter to the park without interruption.

“My aim is to get international recognition, but I don’t know if I want to get to the point where I can’t leave the house – that’s never been my goal.”

“I don’t mind sitting around people who know my music, but know me less.”

The charming Capetonian divulges that he would like to do some collaborations with his fellow muso’s some time in the near future.

“I feel like locally we’re in such a great music space, so I’d like to work with one or two of the hip-hop guys, especially the ones I connect with like Reason and Kwesta. I’d also like to work with Beatenberg!”

Saaiman has just released his latest album.

“I have released my third studio album Cinema even though it feels like my first after the incident in 2011, so this year is just about pushing that album, playing as many shows as possible and getting my music out there.”
