The variety and excellence of South Africa’s comedy scene will be in full effect when Tats Nkonzo, Kagiso Lediga, Robbie Collins, Nina Hastie and Skhumba will perform at Newtown’s Market Theatre.
The Inner City Comedy Festival will be MC’d by comedian Mojak Lehoko, who is also part of Fifty Five Works, who are producing a talent-filled show with The Department of Arts And Culture and The Msanzi Golden Economy.
“I love the energy of the inner city and all the great things happening culturally and economically in the area, and I feel that comedy should also be part of the renewal happening in town,” said Lehoko.
“The aim of the festival is to take theatre-based comedy shows to parts of South Africa that may not have had access to such acts, while providing a platform for young and established comedians to showcase their abilities.”
Lehoko said soon he and the other comedians would take the festival to other cities in South Africa, but it will all begin with this amazing show in Africa’s biggest city, Joburg.
