Local line-up for Newman announced

Local bands ISO and Beatenberg have been announced as the supporting line-up for the upcoming John Newman concert.

As the highly anticipated John Newman concert draws nearer, the supporting local line-up for the concert has been announced. The British crooner, known for hits such as Losing Sleep, Love me again and Cheating, will be performing in the country for the first time ever and will be supported by popular local bands ISO and Beatenberg. ISO will be a supporting act in Cape Town, while Beatenberg will perform before Newman in Johannesburg.

Lead singer of the well-known band ISO, Richard Brokensha, said the band looked forward to performing alongside the renowned soul singer at his upcoming concert.

“John Newman is an inspiration to us and it’s such an honour to open for him. It’s always a pleasure to see a musician of such a young age do such great things and we can’t wait!” said front man.

ISO is well-known for their hit singles ‘Destiny’ and ‘Torpid’ and rose to fame in 2008. The band will be complemented by DJ Honeybee, bringing his electro-swing beats to the mix.

Beatenberg will be supporting Newman at the Johannesburg concert and is known for its hit single with DJ Clock ‘Pluto (Remember You)’. The single has been playing across the airwaves and recently reached #1 countrywide. DJ Michael Lesar will complement the local band.

Mike Pocock, promoter for the concert, promised fans a sizzling, roaring experience from Newman.

“John Newman’s live performance has been regarded as one of the best visual shows in the world at the moment,” he said.

Pocock added that events such as these are aimed at highlighting the best of both Cape Town and Johannesburg.

“Newtown’s Town Hall Lane, known best for its street-culture inspired artwork, will take on a vintage flair, transporting the audience right back to the swing era, while still maintaining the edge of downtown Joburg,” he said.

The two leg concert is presented by Virgin Mobile, 5FM and Seed Experiences and will take place at Newtown in Johannesburg and the Good Hope Centre in Cape Town.

Tickets are available at Webtickets and range from R395-R695. The Cape Town concert will take place on 23 April 2014 at the Good Hope Centre while the Johannesburg one will take place at Town Hall Lane in Newtown on 24 April.
