Germany awaits future soccer stars

ALEXANDRA – A 5-a-side tournament to select boys and girls for a skills camp in Germany later in the year will be held in Alex on 22 June.

Dineo Ntsimane is one of the most promising young soccer stars from Alex who’s also among hopefuls to attend a skills camp in Germany later in the year.

Dineo (15) represented his high school, Realogile during the launch and draw at the Number 3 Square Grounds for a 5-a-side tournament which will be used to search for top football talent in the township to represent South Africa at the week-long Allianz Junior Football Camp to be held in Munich, Germany, from 27 to 31 August.

The selection tournament, which will involve all the six high schools in Alexandra, will take place at the Number 3 Square Grounds on 22 June, with Alex football legend and ambassador of Allianz, Maimane Alfred Phiri, as the chief scout.

Apart from Realogile, the other five high schools taking part in the 5-a-side tournament are Alexandra High, KwaBhekilanga Secondary, East Bank High, Minerva Secondary and Pholosho Junior Secondary and will involve both boys and girls in the 14- to 16-year age groups.

In an interview with North Eastern Tribune, Dineo, in Grade 8, said he could not wait for the 22 June tournament.

“I am going to be ready and prepared for the battle and hope to bring my best out and impress the scouts so I can make the cut for the trip,” said the confident former MC Weiler Primary School soccer player who cut his teeth in football playing in the annual Discovery Alex U12 Schools Cup.

Dineo is on the books of Wanderers Warriors FC in Illovo and is no stranger to overseas soccer trips. He has been involved in two other trips, one to Germany for the Cordial Cup 2013 and the other to France for the VW Junior Masters World Tournament in 2016 while he was still in the development side of Highlands Park.

Alex News has been an ardent follower of Dineo’s football career and has previously written numerous articles on this exciting football find.

Two other documented Tribune finds, Liyema Mgoma of Alex Real Madrid FC and KwaBhekilanga Secondary School and Matome Mmolai of United Stars FC and Pholosho Junior Secondary School, are among the other hopefuls.
