JOBURG - South Africa will be represented by Mophela Primary School from Hammarsdale in KwaZulu-Natal in the world finals of the Danone Nations Cup in New York, USA in September.
The boys of Mophela Primary School soccer team in Hammarsdale, KwaZulu-Natal have booked their ticket to New York in September to represent South Africa in the world finals of the Danone Nations Cup.
This follows their triumph in the South African leg of the Danone Nations Cup national finals on 1 July played at the WJ Clements Stadium in Reiger Park, Ekurhuleni.

They triumphed after beating tournament favourites Sekusile Primary School from Kamaqhekeza in Mpumalanga 2–0, in a match that Sekusile had displayed the better skills and passing acumen.
They were just unfortunate not to score the crucial goals from the many opportunities they created while the Mophela boys made use of the few chances that came their way.
Mophela opened the scoring in the dying minutes of the first half in the 30-minute game and went into the half-time break leading 1–0.
The Sekusile outfit came out in the second half determined to get back into the game with numerous quality moves that saw them raid the goals of Mophela time and time again but to no avail.
They lacked composure in front of goals and either shot wide of the mark or the keeper of Mophela made some brilliant saves that earned him Man of the Match.

After the game, dejected Sekusile boys could not stop sobbing after losing an opportunity of a lifetime to board a plane and visit the Big Apple.
Gauteng favourites, Arcon Park Primary School from Sedibeng in Vereeniging failed to make it to the final after being beaten in one of their matches in the pool stages of the finals.
