Alexandra North Rand Local Football Association wishes United Stars well in new adventure

The fact that our top goal scorers always score more than 30 goals each season proves that football is alive and kicking in Alexandra, says LFA president Joe Seanego.

Alexandra North Rand Local Football Association’s (LFA) Promotional League-winning coach Sakhile Zulu of United Stars plans to use the prize money of R12 000 for the registration of the players and their medicals for the Hollywoodbets Men’s Regional League.

Speaking in an interview after receiving the cheque, Zulu expressed his gratitude to the LFA and its executive for the work done in ensuring the league runs smoothly, describing the just-ended league as ‘one of the best in many seasons’.

“This league will go down in history as one of the most highly contested league seasons. Notwithstanding that my team dominated the entire first half of the league, the second stanza was even more competitive as most of the top teams came out with guns blazing as the sprint to the finish line heated up.

“I was dethroned from the summit at some point by Black Mask, which blew the league wide open and in the end, all top four teams had a chance of being crowned champions and gaining automatic promotion.
“Although my charges had returned to the leader board with only one point separating my side and Mask, my boys needed a minimum of a draw to win the league. I was delighted they won their tough last game to secure a clean victory.

“This is just how competitive and down to the wire it had become and every team pulled up their socks in the hope of causing an upset to whoever they were playing. I thank the LFA for such an interesting season and it’s proof enough that football is alive and kicking in Alex,” Zulu said.

This expression was echoed by the president of the LFA, Joe Seanego, who said top goal scorers in Alex always score more than 30 goals each season, while other LFAs struggle to match that.

“This is proof of the pudding that there is development in Alexandra. I am certain that with all our ducks in a row, alongside sponsorship for which we are still appealing to business people, we can do even more,” Seanego said.

Seanego bade farewell to United Stars and wished the side all the best in their new project in the Hollywoodbets League. “It’s tough out there, but with proper planning and organisation you can make it and make all of us in Alex proud.”
