Slow Black Poison gets to work too late

SAB League are coming thick and fast as Safa is understood to want to align the completion of the amateur league to that of the professional Dstv Premiership.

The slow poison of a disjointed Alex Black Poison side got to work too late as the outfit only found its rhythm and equaliser too late.

The Alex outfit drew 1–1 with a slick Varsity College side in their SAB League game at the Alexandra Stadium on February 5.
The not-so-potent Poison side struggled to find its rhythm in the first half which allowed the visitors to bang in an early goal in just 20 minutes of play through the boot of Devon Seekoei.
Seekoei latched onto a rebound ball from the hands of the Poison keeper and made no mistake in taking his side into the lead. But that celebration was almost short-lived as Poison’s Freddy Ntshebele almost made an immediate reply soon after the ball was centred following the Varsity goal.

Ntshebele hit a grass-cutter in the direction of the goals from an acute left angle and drifted past the goalmouth with no black shirts in sight to give the ball a little touch to change its direction and thereby rattle the back of the net.
The sides took the oranges break with the Varsity side leading the home side 1–0 and on resumption of the second stanza, it was the visitors that could have added a second goal to their credit.
Their stylish playmaker Ryan Arends latched on a rebound ball as well from ‘Umabambayeke’ Poison keeper Wandile Dhlamini and the ball banged the back of the net.
The goal was ruled offside as the assistant referee had long flagged for offside before the ball was even initially kicked for the rebound.

In the dying minutes of the game, the sluggish Poison side managed to redeem itself through a powerful shot from Siyabonga Buthelezi, leaving Varsity keeper Emeka Nkosi bamboozled as to whether a rocket or missile had flew past him for the back of the net.
Buoyed by the rocket goal, the Poison got to work too late. It mounted three attempts at a smash-and-grab but all the attempts went begging as the referee blew his whistle three times for final time and both sides settled for a share of the spoils.

Barcenal while Poison locks horns on February 8 against Midrand side, Indlovu FC at the Alexandra Stadium at 16:00.
