Bruising MTN8 encounters await fans this weekend

Its do or die for both MTN8 encounters this weekend in the send legs between defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns against Orlando Pirates on October 22 and AmaZulu FC against Kaizer Chiefs on October 23.

It’s wafa-wafa this coming weekend when the top four teams of the Premier Soccer League do battle for a spot in the final of the MTN8.

The centre of attraction will be around the team of the moment and defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns when it locks horns with arch-rivals Orlando Pirates for the first final place while hard done by AmaZulu FC will face their nemesis Kaizer Chiefs in the other do-or-die battle to make the final.

Usuthu carries a 1–0 advantage into the second leg of the semi-finals to be played at the FNB Stadium. Usuthu were unfortunate that two of their key players were red-carded in the first leg, one for foul play while the other, along with one member of the technical team, fell foul with the referee for voicing their dissatisfaction with the officiating on the day.

This could be an advantage for AmaKhosi Amahle in the second leg as coach Arthur Zwane will have his full squad to choose from.
The match will be played at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on October 23 at 15:30.

The Masandawana-Buccaneers first-leg encounter was a smooth affair and both teams can look forward to a bruising second-leg encounter that is set to be an all-out fight to reach the final. Masandawana faces the Buccaneers on October 22 at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Limpopo at 15:30.

The Ghosts of Orlando, as the Buccaneers are affectionately known to their avid followers, will come into this weekend’s encounter on the back of a 2–0 loss to Sekhukhune United and a 0–0 stalemate with new boys on the block, Richards Bay in the DStv Premiership.

The Yellow Machine on the other hand, as Masandawana are also famously known to fans, will be buoyed by a massive back-to-back victory in their Caf Champions League games against Madagascan side La Passe FC, in which the Brazilians scored 15 goals over the two both legs.
