A KwaBhekilanga Secondary School girl has been chosen to represent Alexandra Wolves Rugby Club under the Golden Lions Rugby Union in the Craven Week for Girls Rugby Tournament in Welkom.
Ntokozo Kandiado (15) leaves for Welkom in the Free State on June 26 and will spend the next four days in the company of other rugby players from all over the country and return back home on June 30.
Ntokozo, who plies her rugby trade in the U16 girls’ team of the Alexandra Wolves Rugby Club, will also play her games in the U16 age group and will be the sole representative of the Johannesburg East District of the Department of Basic Education in the tournament.
A thrilled Ntokozo said being the only representative in the district speaks volumes for her rugby development and career at the same time.
“I am thrilled to have been chosen to represent the district, my club and my township and school in the tournament and will make the best of the opportunity,” she told Alex News.
An equally thrilled U16 Wolves coach for both boys and girls Jack Moloi said he wished Ntokozo all the best and that she must enjoy the tournament and come back having learnt a thing or two to enable her to up her game.
Ntokozo’s school teacher Sonwabile Maputerni, who is an active member of sports in the school, also wished Ntokozo good luck on her trip to Welkom and hoped she will also represent the school well.
