Alex-born Kaizer Chiefs football star Lebogang ‘Mr Meat’ Manyama has been voted as one of the top three contenders for the Goal of the Season, along with Mamelodi Sundowns’ Hlompho Kekana, and Chiefs teammate Samir Nurkovic.

The countdown has begun as the three musketeers vie for the top award after being chosen by a public voting system hosted online by the Premier Soccer League. The award will be bestowed on the winner with the most votes at the virtual #PSLAwards20 on 22 October at 8pm.

Listed in alphabetical order, the PSL said the top three goals came from Kekana in a strike against Cape Town City on 20 August last year, Mr Meat’s strike came on 29 February this year just before the hard lockdown in response to the Covid-19 global pandemic in a match against their Soweto nemesis Orlando Pirates. The other strike was that of Mr Meat’s teammate Nurkovic against Bloemfontein Celtic on 7 December last year.
