Alex budding girl footballers back home from Germany bootcamp

ALEXANDRA -– The two girls that will represent South Africa in a football boot camp in Germany have been announced.

The two budding Alex girl footballers who represented South Africa at the Allianz Explorer Camp’s football edition in Germany have just returned home.

They are Alexandra High School learner Molly Mathole and her KwaBhekilanga Secondary School counterpart Amina Alaoui. The pair left on a week-long trip to Munich on 22 August and will return home on 27 August.

Molly and Amina were part of the top six girls that were picked by ace goal poacher turned scout Portia Modise, the former Banyana Banyana leading goal scorer of all time, during a football tournament hosted by Allianz Global Corporate and Speciality Africa (AGCS) at the Number 3 Square Ground in May.

Out of 50 girls that took part in the tournament from six high schools in Alex, six of the most talented were picked, from which Amina and Molly came out tops. They joined their counterparts from 30 countries in the Munich boot camp.

Included in the itinerary of the girls’ programme was a meeting with FC Bayern Munich stars who coached them and imparted some footballing tips and other life skills, including some digital activities that will help them beyond football.

Modise had earlier praised the pair, saying they had demonstrated an unwavering passion for the beautiful game, their football artistry, and discipline on and off the field, which she said makes for good quality and all-round player.
