Give Rhulani some time, urges Pirates legend Jerry ‘Legs of Thunder’ Skhosana

JOBURG -– Former Pirates Ace goal poacher Jerry 'Legs of Thunder' Skhosana pleads for time to be given to stand-in coach Rhulani Mokoena.

Orlando Pirates legend and instrumental member of the 1995 Caf Champions League winning team, Jerry Skhosana has called on the Buccaneer faithful to give stand-in coach Rhulani Mokoena time to work on the team and rejuvenate their battered confidence.

Speaking at a training session of the prodigies of the Nedbank Ke Yona Team that will take on TS Galaxy on 8 September, ace goal poacher Skhosana, said it would be unfair for Rhulani to be judged on just the two games that he had lost at the helm of the Buccaneers.

Better known during his football heydays as ‘Legs of Thunder’, Skhosana said the stand-in coach should be supported by all and sundry as he endeavours to get the team firing again since the departure of coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic two weeks ago.

“We need to stand behind Rhulani as he tries to restore the confidence of the team. He just needs patience from all of us and I am sure he will turn the corner. Rhulani may just be our future Bafana coach, who knows,” said the man who used to ‘thunder in’ the goals for Pirates.

On the prospects of his Ke Yona Team, Skhosana was confident the boys could be on the verge of making history by becoming the first squad of the team to lift the Ke Yona trophy.

“We have a good crop of players that have a deep sense of hunger for accolades, and if that translates to the field of play on the day, I am sure we shall make history as the first winners of the trophy,” he said.
