Tau the domineering lion of the #PSLAwards18

JOBURG -– Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Percy Tau is expected to dominate this year's #PSLAwards18.

Mamelodi Sundowns’ explosive forward Percy Tau is expected to sweep the boards at the #PSLAwards18 following his nomination in four categories.

He is expected to headline the awards for the prestigious PSL Footballer of the Season 2017/18 and the Players Player of the Season. His teammate and Zimbabwean international Khama Billiat is the current holder of the awards.

Tau and Polokwane City’s Rodney Ramagalela, better known in football circles as Rama-G, are nominees for the Goal Scorer of the Season with 11 goals apiece to their credit.

Besides the three nominations, Tau, whose surname means lion, is also in contention for the Emerging Star Player of the Season as he came from obscurity to dazzle the Absa Premiership stage with his nimble feet and exciting ball skills.

Tau had been loaned to National First Division side Witbank Spurs by Downs but coach Pitso Mosimane recalled him and the 24-year-old star immediately set the premiership stage ablaze with his skilful trickery.

An astute Mosimane, who is also in the running for Coach of the Season, is said to have realised the potent talent in the young man and loaned him out for ‘game time and cooking’, a move which is now paying dividends for Masandawana or the Yellow Machine as they also known.

The ‘Lion of Masandawana’ has been a master revelation and is the top scorer for his team this season and has had a hand in many others scored by Billiat, Themba Zwane, Gaston Sirino and Tebogo Langerman.

Tau is expected to be the leading player as Masandawana venture into the Caf Champions League for the fourth time running. If they conquer it this time around, he will have no doubt have played a domineering role in that success as evidenced by his explosive runs against Spanish giants FC Barcelona recently.
