SuperSport United goal minder Ronwen Williams’ wise words for aspiring footballers
JOBURG - Ronwen Williams advises aspiring footballers to believe in their dreams and pursue them to the hilt.
Ace SuperSport United goalkeeper Ronwen Hayden Williams has given wise words to young and aspiring footballers which he considers his trump card to success.

Williams gave his advice in an exclusive interview with Alex News at the Phumelela Champions Day horse racing function. “My philosophy, which I believe contributed immensely to my successful career, is for youngsters to believe in themselves, listen to and respect their parents and coaches, take schooling seriously and work hard in the course of trying to achieve their dreams.”
Williams is a product of the SuperSport academy which has been sponsored by Phumelela for 18 years.
“These are important and fundamental values which I believe shaped me and can do it too for you and your career for life. I cannot downplay the role played by the academy as well. I am one of the top keepers in the league today because of the work of the SuperSport academy which polished my raw talent to be what it is.”

The Port Elizabeth-born keeper started his soccer career at the academy as a 12-year-old in 2005. He was signed by the senior team in 2009 but only made his debut in 2011 in a Confederation of African Football Confederations Cup as an understudy to Rowen Fernandez.
Williams became the first-choice goalkeeper when Fernandez left SuperSport United in 2014 and has never looked back.
