EMMARENTIA – 13 000 Runners have a blast at final event of the Spar Grand Prix.

Personal bests were seen not just in running times at the Spar Women’s Race Joburg, but every runner had a blast for charity too.

Marks Park Sports Club saw 13 000 people take to the streets for a 10km challenge and 5km fun run on 8 October, as the last event in the six-part Spar Grand Prix.

Families came in their droves for a good day out, and the rain held off just long enough for everyone to enjoy their scenic run, as well as the food at the stalls afterwards, an excellent performance by the band Denim, and spoils of spot prizes and goodie bags.

To top it all off, the race raised R60 000 for Reach for Recovery, a breast cancer support group that helps women with breast cancer return to daily life through providing free support by volunteers who themselves have suffered the effects of breast cancer, as well as providing a prosthesis service.
