Alex prodigal soccer daughter flies the coup again

ALEXANDRA - Zingawe Phakathi, who has gone awol again is said to be set to return.

One of the best female football strikers to come out of Alexandra, Zingawe Phakathi has done it again.

The prodigal daughter of Alex football, who went awol a few years ago but was persuaded to return to the Bluebirds’ nest, flew the coup again, just as she was struggling to regain her fitness, but is said to be set to return.

When Zingawe went awol two months ago soon after her return to the Birds, coach Malvin Khumalo said he didn’t where she was as she had not called him to give him her reasons for missing training sessions.

But this time, things seem to be looking good for the awol former Banyana Banyana lethal striker, as Khumalo told Alex News he had spoken to Zingawe and she would soon be returning to the nest. “I spoke to her, she will be back soon, we were discussing what could have upset her. The pressure was mounting on her to deliver and expectations were high from her teammates,” Khumalo said.

“They were eager for her to start performing as she used to before, and when that seemed not to be forthcoming, they got a little impatient with her and it was demotivating on her part.”
