The Totalsports Women’s Race is back

JOBURG – Get ready to run around the city!

Entries are open for the 2017 Totalsports Women’s Race, South Africa’s largest Women’s Day celebration that encourages entrants to Run For Life in support of PinkDrive.

Taking place in Durban, Johannesburg and Cape Town mothers, daughters, sisters, family members and friends are encouraged to run for themselves, for others, for fighters or for victors. The Totalsports Women’s Race is back and in their usual pink fashion, they’re supporting PinkDrive – and you can too, by taking part in the race.

PinkDrive is a non-profit company (NPC) that is committed to improving breast cancer awareness, education, and providing and offering free services to the medically uninsured across South Africa. PinkDrive will be present at the Totalsports Women’s Race in each city, offering free clinical breast examinations and educating on the importance of self- breast examinations.

“We believe our theme this year; Run For Life has a strong message with a single-minded call to action that aims to unite women across South Africa to celebrate life,” said Charmaine Claasens, head of marketing at Totalsports.

“We believe sport has the power to change lives. The Totalsports Women’s Race provides us with the opportunity to celebrate, educate and inspire mothers, sisters and daughters to take action and raise awareness around breast cancer. We are excited to welcome Nike as a new brand partner in 2017. Together with Nike and Stillwater Sports, we look forward to creating a memorable event experience.”

Take part in the Johannesburg leg of the race, which hits the ground running at Newtown’s Mary Fitzgerald Square, on 9 August.
