Fans to vote for goal of the month and season

Football lovers across the country will, for the first time, be able to influence the winning goal of the month and that of the season for the Premier Soccer League (PSL) awards.

Announcing the new voting system, head of marketing for Barclays Africa Group Limited, David Wingfield described the fan voting opportunity as a history-making act in the Absa Premiership. “For the first time, the power to choose the winner of the monthly goal and the yearly season winner will rest with the fans rather than the panel of judges, as was the case all along.”

Wingfield added that the journey to the PSL awards had started with the voting for the Absa Premiership Goal of the Month. He said all the monthly goals were now available on the PSL website and fans could log in and begin voting with immediate effect.

Each of the goals selected during the monthly voting will go towards the list of goals that will be voted for in the Absa Premiership Goal of the Season.

Supporters can vote for the Goal of the Month starting in August/September last year, and stand a chance to win many prizes, including a jersey of their favourite PSL club.

This is how football supporters can vote:

• Go to www.PSL.co.za and find the Goal of the Month voting section (top right side)
• Click there – and fill the form below (it will require your name and surname)
• Then you can cast your vote for each month
• You are automatically entered into a competition for prizes.
