Japanese car manufacturer, Toyota, and Soweto football giants, Kaizer Chiefs have signed a three-year deal which will see the club’s officials and its players driving the manufacturer’s vehicles.
Announcing the signing of the partnership agreement, Chiefs executive chairman, Kaizer Motaung said he was delighted to have the car manufacturer as an official motor vehicle supplier to Amakhosi.
The deal, which lasts for an initial three years, will see the company supply the club with 20 vehicles to meet all Chiefs’ transportation requirements. The supply fleet will range from hatchbacks, sedans, SUVs and bakkies to panel vans and minibuses.
“We couldn’t have asked for a better partner than Toyota to provide us with the transport needs for our business,” said Motaung.
“We are delighted to establish a relationship with them and look forward to a prosperous and mutually beneficial partnership.”
Chief executive officer and president of Toyota South Africa, Andrew Kirby, said their brand was deeply rooted in South African sport, whether it be rugby, cycling, motorsport or soccer.
“We are behind South African sport wholeheartedly,” he said.
“We’re looking forward to driving the Kaizer Chiefs team for the next three years. We are excited about joining the Amakhosi fans in supporting their team and hope to grow this partnership over time.”
Amakhosi supporters will also benefit from this new deal, as Chiefs and Toyota have allocated 250 free and secure parking bays for Toyota vehicle drivers attending Chiefs’ home matches at the FNB stadium. This area will be known as the Toyota Zone and supporters will be allocated parking on a first-come-first-served basis.
