Mngomezulu upgrades his coaching skills

ALEXANDRA – Caf licence for Mxolisi Mngomezulu set to benefit the Alex football fraternity and the community at large.

The Alexandra Northrand Local Football Association’s technical director, Mxolisi Mngomezulu is set to finally receive the highest coach qualification under the Confederation of African Football (Caf).

Mngomezulu is into his second phase of the course which is scheduled to finish on 29 January, and he is considered to be one of the best coaching talents to emerge from Alex under the Safa Johannesburg region.

In an interview with Alex News, Mngomezulu said the course, a Caf A Licence, is considered to be the highest Caf coaching development course, and will be of immense benefit to the local football association and coaches of its affiliated clubs.

Once licensed, Mngomezulu will use his knowledge and skills acquired in the course to improve the coaching abilities of his colleagues in the association through their Mondays Coaching Workshops.

Besides benefiting local coaches, Mngomezulu will use his extensive knowledge in guiding the various squads of the association in inter-local football association tournaments and other competitions conducted under the Safa Johannesburg Region.

The 30-day course involves classroom facilitation, assignments, assessments in both practical and theoretical aspects of the game, and is being conducted by Safa and Caf instructors and examiners.

It covers football aspects such as the laws of the game under revised and new amendments, sports medicine and science, the theory of football and oral presentations, including the theory of physical training accompanied with practicals.

Mngomezulu said the licence would allow him to coach at professional level as well as to coach anywhere in Africa and Asia, which he said may be an ideal qualification for exchange programmes between the two continents.

The course is a project of Safa technical director, Neil Tovey, which seeks to identify talent and propel it through specialised training.

“I am grateful for this opportunity whose selection criteria was quite stringent and is a recognition of my hard work as well,” said Mngomezulu.
