Aces to inject financial muscle to Alex football

ALEXANDRA – The arrival of Black Aces in Alexandra will lead to many benefits for Alex football.

Following the sale of their Absa Premiership status to Cape Town City FC a month ago, Mpumalanga Black Aces has joined the Alexandra Northrand Local Football Association (ANLFA) as Black Aces Football Club.

The cash-strapped association will benefit immensely from the arrival of Black Aces. The secretary general of the ANLFA, Mafika Morajane, has confirmed the affiliation of Black Aces to the Alex league and said this meant that the new club will now play league matches under the association.

“It gives the ANLFA great pleasure to welcome the Black Aces Football Club onto our shores. This was long overdue as we have been talking to them for a while now, but I am happy to say they finally applied to join us and we have approved them as well,” Morajane said.

“They will start playing their games here in Alex in the 2016/17 season.”

Aces are also considering changing their name to Alex Black Aces FC. Morajane said the team was not only coming to play football in Alex but was also coming in with its huge financial expertise to assist the association.

“They would like to help us financially and also develop our players by opening opportunities for them, and this will open doors for the scouting of all our boys in order to reach their bigger dreams,” Morajane said.

Aces’ first game will be played on the night of 29 July at Alexandra Stadium.

Meanwhile, Morajane also congratulated Gauteng FC which has been promoted to the SAB League. “This is a great achievement for the club that started in our own promotional league and worked their way to the top. We wish them all the best and we say good luck to them in the new league and urge our clubs to co-operate with them by providing them with players they may require.”
