Get your running shoes out, the race is here

WANDERERS – Great prizes to be won at the 2016 Spar Women's Challenge.

Wonderful prizes will be on offer at The Spar Women’s Challenge on 9 October.

The annual race, which has become a talking point on the Joburg social calendar, will start at the Wanderers sports club. Thousands of women of all ages and from all walks of life will take part.

The 10km route will take the runners along Corlett Drive and Oxford Road as far as Riviera Road in Killarney, before zig-zagging back through some of Joburg’s leafiest suburbs.

The 5km fun run route meanders through the plush suburbs of Illovo, Melrose, Birdhaven and Atholl Oaklands, giving runners and walkers a chance to peek at some of the most beautiful gardens in the area.

Winners in each of the respective groups will walk away with substantial cash prizes and there is a lucky draw for a Spar voucher worth R15 000.

The bring a buddy competition will offer computers and equipment for schools with the most entries and one lucky entrant will drive away in a Suzuki motor vehicle. The first 15 000 runners to cross the finish line will receive medals and goodie bags and the first 15 000 to pre-register for the race will walk away with a limited edition free race T-shirt.

Entertainment on the day will be provided by the popular award-winning all-girl band Black Byrd and proceeds of the race will go to Reach For Recovery, an international breast cancer support group.
