SPCA benefits from City Run

JOBURG – Johannesburg SPCA receives much-needed support.

Runners taking part in the inaugural FNB Joburg 10K City Run on 24 September will be able to show their support for the Johannesburg SPCA on National Heritage Day.

“We are proud to welcome the Johannesburg SPCA as an official charity of the FNB Joburg 10K City Run,” said Michael Meyer, managing director of Stillwater Sports.

Meyer continued, “Animal welfare lies close to our hearts. By supporting the SPCA we are able to do our part for Johannesburg’s animals. We invite runners to show their support while exploring their city at the FNB Joburg 10K City Run.”

According to Jolene Beyleveld, public relations officer for the Johannesburg SPCA, it is a privilege to be one of the official charities of the FNB Joburg 10K City Run.

“Animals play an integral part in society. They need protection and someone to stand up for them. The SPCA, together with help from supporters such as the FNB Joburg 10K City Run, is able to do this for them. We have more than 200 animals in our care on the property, excluding the animals that we are assisting out in the field. We care for more than 5 000 animals annually,” said Beyleveld.

On behalf of the SPCA, Beyleveld expressed excitement and appreciation of the support that would be provided to them for the animals in their care.

“The FNB Joburg 10K City Run is a wonderful way to bring the people of Johannesburg together,” continues Beyleveld.

Further adding to the benefits of taking part in the event is that it is fun and promotes a healthy lifestyle, but it is also a charity event where society as a whole benefits in the restoration of the heritage of Johannesburg.
