Budding coaches to be trained at McDonald’s soccer festivals

JOBURG – Teachers and budding coaches to be trained as soccer coaches during the McDonald's U14 Schools League festivals.

Teachers and budding coaches will get the opportunity of a lifetime to be trained as soccer coaches during the McDonald’s South Africa Schools League.

The training will be conducted by local Koninklijke Nederlandse Voetbalbond (Royal Netherlands Football Association) coach John ‘Bull’ Sibeko, a former Witbank Aces player.

Speaking at the launch of the league, Sibeko said the association’s coaching clinics would be run simultaneously with the league. “I hope our teachers and budding coaches will take advantage of this opportunity and come to the festival to be part not only of the entertainment provided for by the football teams but to also obtain a qualification in coaching which will be a feather in their caps,” Sibeko said.

Speaking at the same event, South African Schools Football Association (Sasfa) president, Mandla ‘Shoes’ Mazibuko thanked McDonald’s South Africa for extending their partnership with Sasfa for another three years.

“This has been a six-year… partnership extended for a new three-year cycle,” Mazibuko said.

“We are really proud to witness the young players’ dreams realised through this league. We will continue to provide structures for schools and children to develop their football skills at grassroots level.”
