A group of amateur golfers from Alexandra and surrounds had an opportunity of a lifetime when they rubbed shoulders with world-renowned golfers at a coaching clinic at the Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Golf Club.

The coaching clinics were part of the Joburg Open tournament played at the club. Since the inception of the tournament in 2006, the clinics have been held at the unkempt Alexandra Driving Range which was developed by the City of Johannesburg as part of the Joburg Open Legacy Project’s efforts to promote the playing of golf by township youths.

Of late, the dilapidated range has been the scene of horrific crimes, which have included murders, so the clinics were held at the golf club.
