Takkies pound tarmac in the Spar Women’s Race

ILLOVO - The wait is over as Joburg’s most beautiful road race has started and the streets of Rosebank are flooded with thousands of runners in pink shirts and tutus.

Arnold Geerdts, master of the ceremonies, can be heard cheering the runners on.

The Wanderers Club is a hub of entertainment as the kiddies are in full swing at the entertainment area with jumping castles, colouring-in, an obstacle course, and SPAR characters.

Particpants are excited for the draws for massive prizes, including a Nissan Micra and generous SPAR Vouchers.

The designated charity for the race is Reach for Recovery, a support group for women with breast cancer.  Reach for Recovery stall has been set up and is ready for you to show them some support.

All eyes were on well-known athletes and twins Lebogang and Lebo Phalula as they left the starting line. The crowd is waiting in anticipation to see which sister will triumph.

Other athletes that have also just left the startin line include Mapaseka Makhanya, Cornelia Joubert, Caroline Wostmann and Rene Kalmer.
