Investec Soccer League champions crowned

JOBURG - Anchor Comprehensive school was crowned as the champions of the 2015 Investec Soccer League after defeating Mokgomo Secondary school in a tightly contested encounter at the University of Johannesburg.

Anchor Comprehensive School was crowned the champions of the 2015 Investec Soccer League after defeating Mokgomo Secondary School in a tightly contested encounter at the University of Johannesburg.

The league had 20 high schools competing for cash prizes which included a whopping R60 000 for the runners-up, Mokgomo Secondary School, and R90 000 for the winners.

The four semifinalists from Soweto were Anchor Comprehensive School, Lamula Secondary School, Thulani Secondary School and Mokgomo Secondary School.

The final day saw two Bidvest Wits players, Moeneeb Josephs and Thulani Hlatswayo, showing their support for the young aspiring footballers.

The youngsters took to the field with scouts from different clubs, including Bidvest Wits, Pretoria University Football Club and FC Cape Town looking for fresh talent.

“It was exciting to see how hard the teams worked and how far they have come from their first games,” said Thembiso Kodisang, Investec Soccer League administrator.

“This makes it possible for their school and peers to have a better education and great sports facilities at their disposal through their Investec Soccer League prize.”
