Soccer talent on display in Spring Championships
ALEXANDRA - Another edition of the annual Spring Championships for the U15 division teams of the Alexandra Northrand Local Football Association comes underway soon.
The Alexandra Masters Soccer League has once again stepped up to sponsor the annual 2015 U15 Spring Championships which begins in earnest on 12 September.
The tournament is in partnership with the Alexandra Northrand Local Football Association, and its secretary general, Mafika Morajane, said football lovers in the township could look forward to yet another bumper edition of this tournament.
Preliminaries have already been played, and the last 16 teams will clash on the weekend of 12 and 13 September, with the quarterfinals scheduled for 19 and 20 September, and semis on the weekend of 26 and 27 September.
The U15 Spring Tournament runs parallel with games of the Masters League of the same tournament, and Morajane said the finals will be a joint event on 4 October at a venue still to be finalised.
“We urge the football loving public in our community to come to the stadiums to watch their little ones, along with games of their own favourite legends,” Morajane said.
With the current devastating form of the Malandela Mighty Heroes U15 team, defending champions Alex Young Lions will have to dig deep if they are to defend their title.
Another team to watch in this tournament will be Real Madrid, which is another stylish Alex side with a lot of potential and promising youngsters who are capable of turning the tables on their opponents.
