Malandela Mighty Heroes produced another dominant display when they demolished United FC 6-0 to send a strong message to their title rivals in the U15 football league division in Alexandra.

United created the first opportunity of the game when Mfundo Mathunda squandered a golden opportunity to put his team in front when he failed to convert from close range.

Malandela looked the better of the two teams from then on, and Maropeng Sergobela was the first to register his name on the scoresheet when he headed home from a corner kick.

In the 26th minute, Malandela’s Lethabo Mazibuko blasted into the back of the net after a beautifully laid pass from Tshepang Phala to make it 2-0.

Malandela’s Kabelo Morwasetla produced a great performance after the half-time break and bagged two wonderful goals to put the final nail in United’s coffin. Mazibuko completed his brace when he calmly tapped in from close range.

The nimble-footed Tebogo Mthongwane made it 6-0 in the 52nd minute as Malandela showed no mercy for United.

Malandela is in sixth position on the log with six games in hand, and United are on top of the log standings with two games to play.

Malandela was knocked out of the Maimane Alfred Phiri Games by United on penalties and this victory was payback time for them.

United’s coach Siyabonga Mbatha was disappointed by his team’s display on the day and said they had no excuses. “We did not show any character today, things did not go according to plan. There are no excuses,” he said.

Vincent Ramofi, coach of Malandela was elated with his team’s performance and hoped to continue the momentum. “I am happy that our game plan worked and it is about time we reclaimed the glory from United. We must not be overwhelmed by this victory, we still have to go back to training and work hard for our next games,” he said.
