Zenzeleni Primary moves up in school soccer pecking order

ALEXANDRA - Zenzeleni Primary School will soon rid itself of the unenvious underdogs’ tag they have carried for years in the local schools soccer scene.

Zenzeleni Primary School believes it will soon rid itself of the underdog tag the school has carried around for years in the local schools’ soccer scene.

This after the school’s recent participation and success in the U13 boys’ Build It Soccer Tournament at the Edenvale Action Soccer Arena.

Sports teacher at the school, Makhasandile Msindo, said this time their preparations combined with the boys’ determination paid off as they beat several schools at the tournament to finish third. They lost to their local nemesis, Ithute Primary School, which in turn lost to eventual winners, Pholosho Primary, also from Alexandra.

For their effort, Zenzeleni received two soccer balls, sports bags, water bottles and bibs.

The winners, Pholosho, received R10 000; and runners-up Ithute, R5 000 to be redeemed at the sponsors which supply building material.
