Aces unveils Ertugral as new coach

JOBURG - Muhsin Ertugral has been unveiled as the new coach of Mpumalanga Black Aces.

He replaces interim coach Jacob Sakala who had agreed to help the team avoid relegation and said he would not want to continue coaching the team after the close of the 2014/15 season of the Absa Premiership.

Sakala in turn took over from veteran coach and former Bafana Bafana winning supremo, Clive Barker, who has been given other responsibilities within the club. Ertugral has signed a two year contract with Amazayoni.

Briefing the media at the unveiling of Ertugral, club chairman Mario Morfou said the appointment of the well-travelled coach soon after the close of the season was part of the club’s early preparations for the coming season.

Morfou described Ertugral as highly experienced and the right coach for the job to lead the club into new heights in the coming season. “We had undertaken a thorough selection process and we all agreed that, from the more than 10 coaches interviewed, Ertugral stood head and shoulders above them all.

“Ertugral is a tactician of note and his high performance coaching expertise relating to the youth will stand the club in good stead as we seek to develop and blood youngsters into the team in a league that has become highly competitive,” Morfou said.

Soon after his unveling, Ertugral said he hoped to hit the ground running. “My immediate task is to stabilise the team by uniting everyone under a common vision and objectives in line with the initial two-month plan and resume pre-season training as of 8 June.

“My objective is to make Aces competitive while playing an attractive and entertaining style of football and gradually blood the youngsters as well into the senior team in order to grow the base of our players. I believe there is no future without the youth,” he added.

Although he is yet to win the league, though having coached various teams in the premier division, Ertugral is a vastly experienced man with several trophies to his credit in the South African league and has a proven track record of preparing young players for high performance; an attribute which has gained him world recognition.
