Pirates off to Guinea for Confederations Cup mission

JOBURG - Continental glory-seeking Soweto giants Orlando Pirates left for Mali on 13 May for a Confederation of African (Caf) Football Confederations Cup clash against Guinean side AS Kaloum.

This will be a play-offs clash against the reigning Guinean league champions which will be played on 15 May at the Stade Modibo Keita in Mali. Due to the Ebola virus concerns that have plagued Guinea of late, AS Kaloum has played all of their home fixtures in neighbouring Mali.

The mighty Buccaneers head to Mali for what promises to be an interesting first round fixture between the two sides who are fighting to keep their Caf ambitions alive. The hosts will be desperately trying to salvage their 2015 Caf campaign after having crashed out of the Champions League.

Pirates, on the other hand, are on a mission to advance in the only Caf club competition they are yet to win. Kick-off for this clash is set for 5pm local time in Mali and 7pm South African time.
