NFD trophy handover scheduled for last day of season

JOBURG - The Premier Soccer League CEO, Brand de Villiers has confirmed that the National First Division (NFD) trophy will be handed over to the season champions on the last day of the season.

The Premier Soccer League CEO Brand de Villiers has confirmed that the National First Division (NFD) trophy will be handed over to the season champions on the last day of the season.

De Villiers said the last fixtures of the NFD season will be played on 10 May and the league will take the opportunity to hand over the trophy to the eventual winners on that day. He also announced the last two NFD fixture blocks will kick off simultaneously.

Durban side Lamontville Golden Arrows, who were relegated to the NFD last season, and Jomo Cosmos, who have since become perennial members of this league after being relegated more than five seasons ago, are both favourites to clinch the NFD championship.

If Arrows are the eventual winners, it will be a quick return back to the Premier Division while on the other hand, if Cosmos were to take it, they will breathe a huge sigh of relief after spending so many years in the wilderness.
