Varsity derby kicks-off Nedbank Cup last 16

JOBURG - Two clubs with their roots in institutions of higher learning, Bidvest Wits and University of Pretoria, will kick-off the last 16 stages of the Nedbank Cup on 17 March.

Two clubs with their roots in institutions of higher learning, Bidvest Wits and University of Pretoria will kick off the last 16 round of the Nedbank Cup on 17 March.

This was confirmed by the Premier Soccer League following a meeting of the organising committee. The opening fixture of the last 16, fondly referred to as the Varsity Derby, will kick off at 7.30pm at the Bidvest Stadium in Milpark.

On 20 March, Ajax Cape Town and Bloemfontein Celtic will play at Athlone Stadium at 8pm. On Human Rights Day, 21 March, Black Aces will take on Jomo Cosmos at the Mbombela Stadium, and Maluti FET College will travel to Cape Town to face fellow National First Division side, Milano United at the Philippi Stadium. Kick-off for both matches is at 3pm.

At 5.30pm on the same day, Kaizer Chiefs will welcome Black Leopards at the FNB Stadium, while in what has been billed as the ‘pick of the round of 16’ fixture, SuperSport United will play Orlando Pirates at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane. Kick-off is at 8.15pm.

On 22 March, Golden Arrows will be at home against Natal United in what has been described as the KZN derby, while Platinum Stars will play Mamelodi Sundowns at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium. Both fixtures will kick-off at 3pm.
