Clubs and officials to face the music over insults

JOBURG - A number of Premier Soccer League teams and their officials will face the music when they appear before the league's Disciplinary Committee on various charges relating to bringing the league into disrepute.

A number of Premier Soccer League clubs will appear before the league’s disciplinary committee on various charges relating to bringing the league into disrepute.

The clubs involved are Ajax Cape Town and their coach Roger De Sa, Mamelodi Sundowns and team official Trot Moloto, National First Division side Highlands Park and its official, Leslie Grobelaar, and Platinum Stars.

De Sa and Ajax Cape Town have been charged with insulting a match official. This is after De Sa allegedly insulted match official, Robert Smith during Ajax Cape Town’s league fixture against Mamelodi Sundowns on 20 December last year at the Lucas Moripe Stadium. The club and De Sa are scheduled to appear on 10 February.

Moloto and Sundowns face charges relating to insulting a match official. Moloto is also alleged to have insulted Smith during thematch against Ajax. The club and Moloto are scheduled to appear on 10 February.

Grobelaar and Highlands Park face charges relating to insulting a match official, Cedric Muvhali during Highlands Park’s fixture against Vasco da Gama on 9 December last year at the Makhulong Stadium. In addition, the club is charged with contravening a rule of the league after it failed to procure the services of a team doctor in the same fixture. The club and Grobelaar are scheduled to appear on 12 February.

Platinum Stars are charged with contravening the league’s Safety and Security Manual for failing to appoint a club Safety and Security Officer as recommended by the Judge Ngoepe Commission. The club is scheduled to appear on 12 February.
