The draw for the Nedbank Cup 2015 edition will be held at SuperSport’s Studio 6 on 15 January.

The Nedbank Cup has become popularly known as the David versus Goliath cup as it pits the big boys from the Absa premiership against teams from the lower leagues such as the SAB League.

Six of the eight clubs from the South African Football Association (Safa) leagues to compete in this year’s Nedbank Cup have been confirmed. The clubs from the Safa leagues will join eight clubs from the National First Division and 16 from the Premier Soccer League for the Nedbank Cup last 32 draw.

According to Luxolo September of the premier league, the six Safa clubs are Tornado FC from the Eastern Cape, The Magic FC (Western Cape), Natal United (KwaZulu Natal), Bellevue Winners Park (Limpopo), Phiva Young Stars (Mpumalanga) and Mainstay United from the Northern Cape.

All these clubs ply their trade in the ABC Motsepe League, with the exception of Mainstay United which plays in the SAB League.

Four clubs from the North West, Free State and Gauteng are still to do battle for the two remaining spots. These are African All Stars, Edu Sports FC, North West Shining Stars and Roses United.

Like the previous editions of the cup, the draw is expected to produce some interesting clashes which could see some of the biggest upsets again.
