McDonald’s South Africa has launched an additional programme to their U14 Schools Soccer League, which is run in partnership with South African Schools Football Association (Sasfa).

The World Coaches programme is a partnership with the Royal Dutch Football Association and will involve 225 school teachers/coaches and Sasfa members across all nine provinces. The Dutch association is the largest sports organisation in the Netherlands with more than 1.2 million members and trains football coaches in developing countries.

Sechaba Motsieloa, corporate affairs director at McDonald’s said they were excited about the new partnership which would bring even more energy and expertise to the successful McDonald’s U14 Schools League. The league involves more than 54 400 young players.

Mandla ‘Shoes’ Mazibuko, president of Sasfa said they were elated with the additional coaching programme. “It will provide both male and female educators with the basic knowledge required for coaching our youngsters as part of building on the schools’ league programme in 2014,” he said.

The programme will also reward Alex’s young football players as it coincides with the recent resuscitation of the sport through the launch of the Alexandra leg of the schools soccer competition by the MMC for community development, Chris Vondo.
