Alex football calls on parents to get involved

ALEXANDRA - The football fraternity in Alexandra has called on parents to get involved in the soccer activities of their children by coming to the stadiums.

The football fraternity in Alexandra has called on parents to get involved in the soccer activities of their children by coming to the stadiums to watch the matches.

The call was made by the president of the Alexandra Northrand Local Football Association Maisha Molepo during the launch of the Maimane Alfred Phiri Winter Games.

Molepo further called on parents and interested members of the public to attend a playing ID card hand over function at Three Square Sports Facility on 21 June, where the playing cards will be issued and handed to their children.

Molepo said at this function, the association will take the opportunity to inform the parents of the players and those interested members of the community about the operations of Alex football, the clubs and explain the role parents and the public can play in the future.

“We would like to get the parents of our various players in the local leagues to get involved in football matters and activities of their children, including ordinary members of the community who are interested in football.

“The event will start at 9am on 21 June at Three Square Sports Facility and we shall endeavour to explain the trials and tabulations that our various clubs go through and the fact that they finance these clubs from their own pockets just for the love of football and the children,” Molepo said.

He urged parents and the community at large to appreciate these clubs and matches conducted under the auspices of the association as they tend to keep their children on the straight and narrow, away from various forms of mischief such as drugs, alcohol and other criminal activities and social ills.
