The cup was won by defending champions SuperSport United after defeating Tshwane rivals Mamelodi Sundowns 1-0 in the final at the Eldorado Park Ext 6 soccer fields.
The Safa Johannesburg squad was eliminated in the group stages of the tournament. They were beaten 1-0 in their first match by SuperSport United, drew 1-1 with Mpumalanga Black Aces and won 1-0 against Johannesburg Secondary School.
As there were no quarter-finals in the tournament, the winners of their respective groups proceeded to the semi-finals.
All four winners of the group stages qualify for the international leg of the tournament, which will be held on a date still to be announced and will involve international teams from Brazil, China, Mexico, India and other African countries.
